Hepatitis is liver inflammation caused by viral infections (hepatitis A, B, C, D, E), alcohol abuse, toxins, or autoimmune conditions. Symptoms include fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, abdominal pain, dark urine, and jaundice (yellow skin/eyes). Warning signs may be subtle at first but worsen over time. Risk factors include unprotected sex, sharing needles, contaminated food or water, and alcohol use. Hepatitis A and E are usually foodborne and acute. Hepatitis B, C, and D can become chronic, leading to liver damage or cancer. Early detection and vaccination (for A and B) help prevent complications.
